Dreary weather...but I expected such.

Took a drive up Hwy 3 with our first stop in Weaverville, Ca, which at one time was my number one pick for a retirement town.

Judge Carr Power Plant is a hydro electric "peaker" which just means it only is in action when needed. Odd that they built a 10 mile tunnel, 17 feet in diameter for a plant only used part time?

It was really awesome to be able to stand right between the two penstocks and look up. (there was no one to tell me I couldn't, :-))

All along the Trinity River, and nearly all of the creeks to Carrville, were hundreds of acres with  river rock piled high from the gold dredging.

This plaque was attached to a rock along side of the road.
