North Fork Fires

There has been a constant fire in the hills above us since we got here 14 days ago and with quite a few afternoon thunderstorms, things are staying exciting.
This is a direct shot at the sun mid-afternoon...through a haze of smoke.

You know your in for some excitement when you find a sign like this.

This is the fire camp about 8 miles from North Fork. They seem to have tents and supplies for hundreds off firefighters.

Besides the two large mess tents, medical tent, many yurts there were two semi-trucks that contained portable showers.

One of the helicopters for dropping water or surveying the fire.

Donna at first thought this was a bug. The long tube hanging down is what they use to suck up river water, then drop on fires.

The brown or gold haze at sundown is an every night affair lately.
