Buster the "Scared Little Dog"

This will be mostly "a" written blog since I only have two photos. Here's what happened.
Donna and I were driving up to Woodland, Washington to look at some property on highway 5 in the rain. About one mile from Woodland and at the end of a long bridge a Dodge Ram truck about ten cars ahead of us pulling a small flatbed trailer, spun out of control and slammed into the bridge, pretty hard.

As we passed the poor guy who was already sitting on the running board looking down the empty highway. We soon noticed this little brown puppy dog running full speed away from the accident. There was little to no traffic yet getting by the crash so we and two other vehicles put on our emergency blinkers and swerved all over the highway to warn anyone passing the crash. Once, we had the poor little scared guy cornered in the middle lane of the freeway...you have to imagine how it looked with three cars parked in the middle of a highway and people running around like crazy. He got away that time but we did corral him off to the right side of the freeway and again cornered him. This time Donna walked up to him very slowly, while another guy and I protected the flanks.
With a treat in her hand and a calm voice, Donna made friends with "Buster" (my name) and we were finally able to capture and protect him. Buster was so scared and tired of running the mile or so from the accident he was shaking like a leaf.
We were elected by the other couple to get Buster back to his rightful owner. Before they took the accident victim to the hospital he was reassured that someone had the dog. With repeated calls to the highway patrol we met up with the accident officer and handed over Buster, (for a split second we were thinking of handing over Benji instead...:-)) at which time we found out Buster was a girl puppy. We also learned that the little girl was his daughters dog...we're sure he will be happy to reunite them.
Donna and I were so grateful that for the 15 minutes we had the freeway shut down, completely, not one horn was sounded or anyone yelling at us. Thanks to all those people.....

You guys saved the day for this poor little girl! What a noble thing to do. She's one lucky Busterette.
