Now, I'll be honest...no one in their right mind actually intends on going to Edwall, Washington. This town, or unincorporated village, is west of Spokane and a wrong turn is about the only way you would drive down road 231 off of Highway 2. There is nothing other than a great copper steepled church in town to see, no bar, cafe or even a post office...that I could see.
The Columbia River in upper Washington is still a very impressive sight.
Our first time staying in a highway rest area, for the night, just west of Whitepass on Hwy 12. Not bad at all and never felt unsafe...thank you Washington.
This Catholic church near Raymond, Washington was a photo opportunity.
Established in 1888 and still here is a testament to the community.
Lucky for me that the stop at the church happened because we, for the first time in our lives, we found and picked blackberries that went well with whip cream, cereal or just about anything...:-)
This is just a small part of the 4.1 mile Astoria-Meger bridge that connects Oregon and Washington over the Columbia River.
This was our view from the beautiful rest area on the Washington side looking straight at the mouth of the Columbia River. (and it was free!)
The Chinook river during high tide, there was quite a rush of water going up stream. The ocean overtakes the river flow by a large margin.
My oldest son thought I had taken such a perfect photo but in reality a picture of Canon Beach, Oregon is hard to screw up.
There was no signage, which would tell me what this group of buildings near the town of Seaside, Oregon was, but I found them interesting ...and empty.
